Taking a bold step to get ahead of the deficit hawks now controlling the House of Representatives, Obama has revealed a budget plan calling for "far-reaching spending cuts, pulling off a daring robbery of the heavily fortified Fort Knox bullion depository, and repealing Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthy."

OK. So the deficit plan isn't really from the White House, but created by the satirical news site The Onion.
But given the difficulty that Washington is facing in agreeing on a budget plan, a bit of levity is always welcome.
And admit it, a fiscal strategy that offers "a gigantic pile of gold" as part of the solution is appealing, especially with the precious metal's market price topping $1,500 an ounce.
