Tax plea for ‘Girls Gone Wild’ founder

September 23, 2009

Finally! The end to our tackiest national tax nightmare is near.

"Girls Gone Wild" founder Joe Francis apparently has reached a plea agreement with federal prosecutors so we should be hearing much less about his tax troubles.

According to published reports, Francis will plead guilty this afternoon in a California court to filing false tax returns (and one count of bribing Nevada jailers for food; really), receive credit for time (301 days) already served in connection with the tax charges and pay $250,000 in restitution.

Any outstanding tax liabilities allegedly owed by Francis or his companies from 2002 to 2008 will be handled in civil or administrative courts. The IRS contends he improperly claimed deductions of more than $20 million over the years.

Too bad the plea agreement didn't also call for an end to his disgusting TV ads.

Hello Tax Season 2026

Happy New Tax Year! Are you ready to file your 2025 tax return? I know, too early to ask. But Tax Day 2026 will be here before we realize it. The Internal Revenue Service deadline to file and pay any tax we owe is the regular April 15 date this year. It’s also Tax Day for most of the states that collect income taxes from their residents, which is most of the states! If that seems too far away right now, don’t worry. As is the case every tax season, the ol’ blog’s tips and other tax reminders should help all of us meet our state and federal responsibilities. Procrastinators also will want to keep an eye on the countdown clock just below. It tracks how much time we have until April’s Tax Day, just in case we put off our annual tax task until the absolutely final hours and decide we need to instead get an extension request into the IRS by that date. (Note: I’m in the Central Time Zone, so adjust accordingly for where you live.)

Why do people avoid paying taxes? Don’t they know that it is the fundamental treasure that the government uses to give people the service they deserve? Not paying taxes will bring you much more cost than paying it if you have been caught not paying and proclaiming false taxes returns… now if you want to repair your credit avoid having balances and avail those short-term loans. You apply for personal loans similar to other loans, and many lenders don’t require a credit check and have direct deposit capabilities. If you want to repay your low rate personal loans quickly, many offer short-term loans to that end.
