When the hubby and I lived in the Washington, D.C. area, we became big fans of the Washington Capitals. We eventually bought season tickets, and the National Hockey League’s team’s location back then in suburban Maryland, where we had moved, made getting to and from the games easy.
One of my favorite Capitals’ ad campaigns asked if we sometimes felt like screaming. They encouraged potential new (or ticket upgrading) fans to buy game packages and come yell their hearts out at the arena.
I don’t know about you, but way back then, and even more so these days, I definitely do feel like screaming.
And that’s carried over for many years to the ol’ tax blog in the weekend shout out feature. But the difference between NHL outbursts and tax shouting is that the ones about the tax code tend to be more civil. Note “tend to be.” I can’t make any promises!
Now, finally, The Saturday (or Sunday) Shout Out is back for 2026! Yes, I’m still smoothing out blog transition bugs from the original Typepad version to this new one. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
As you can see from the folks hollering at the top of this post, I’m still using the same Giphy image that’s been on this feature since it debuted in 2017. Something about not fixing things that aren’t broken. So, if you’re a regular reader (thanks!), you know the drill.
And as I’ve been doing for the last 10+ years — another cliché about time, flying, taxes, and fun — I’m freeing up at least one of my weekend days by posting a Saturday (or Sunday) Shout Out. Here, I give a holler to some other tax blogs or news stories or videos or just about anything tax related that happened to catch my tax fancy the previous week.
The headline’s Saturday or Sunday option allows me to decide which day I choose to post the other tax info if that seems appropriate. But mostly, I do my shouting out on Saturdays. That’s why it’s listed first; that and the alphabet.
Not only is this a good way to share some of the fine tax material out there, but it’s also a nod to my personal appreciation of personal time. As regular readers have already noticed, when I headed into my 21st year of tax blogging back on Nov. 14, 2025 (you can see my first post here), I decided to pull back a bit. I’m no longer posting every day. That gives me more time to spend with the hubby, whether he wants me to or not, as we both head into retirement mode.
OK, I’ve already used up some of my free time, so let’s get down to business. Below are links to 2026’s tax sharing and shouting. The newest shouts are atop the list.
2026 transition: Since I last shouted, the ol’ blog moved to a new platform. That happened Sept. 30 and the transition messed up my regular features as that date of going from the now defunct TypePad to Bluehost neared.
That explains the big gap starting in early September.
I’m still working on getting things more on track. That’s why I’m putting some 2026 shout outs here at hte top of this 2025 list. Thanks for your understanding of the temporary merge.
- With some states slow in issuing tax refunds, it could be time to adjust your withholding (March 1, 2026)
- DoJ’s ‘Bitcoin Jesus’ $50 million tax case settlement raises enforcement equity questions (Jan. 23, 2026)
You can read more of the whys and wherefores of the Shout Out idea in the original post about the one-weekend-day posts. There you’ll also find all of 2017’s Shout Outs.
And if you interested in who got tax-related hollers in the rest of the last six years, you’ll find them on the 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 pages.
Thanks, and I’ll say it again, enjoy your weekends with a little bit of taxes on the side. I know I will!
